  • The enei Parliamentary Reception: Discusing the future of D&I

Over 180 enei members gathered on the 12th of June 2019 at the House of Lords enei, Parliamentary Reception.

The reception was an exclusive networking opportunity bringing together Members and Friends of enei to say thank you for their continued support.
Hosted by enei Patron Baroness Ruby McGregor-Smith CBE and sponsored by EY, the enei Parliamentary Reception was hosted in the Cholmondeley Room and Terrace in the House of Lords, overlooking the River Thames.

Our Patron, Baroness Ruby McGregor Smith CBE, welcomed participants, and was pleased to see many shifting the dial on D&I in the workplace, She spoke about looking into the future’s big issues: ‘Trans equality, Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, sexual harassment in politics, homophobia from religious and cultural communities’.
Baroness Ruby McGregor Smith CBE encouraged participants to make the workplace even more inclusive and ensure that organisations are fit for the new generations that are coming into work.

Harry Gaskell, enei Chair and Chief Innovation Officer, EY, reminded participants that we live in revolutionary times and that awareness of D&I issues has been gaining momentum around the world. He also mentioned that the Gender Pay Gap Reporting is forcing employers to look closely at their workforce, it proves gender imbalances still exist, caused by a lack of women in senior positions. Recent publication of excuses for having no women on boards demonstrate there is a problem with the environment at the top of businesses saying: “There is really no hiding place now for men to behave in the way they have behaved for generations at work”.

He concluded by reminding Members about enei’s achievement in the last year and thanking them for their continuous support
