New transgender question in next Census agreed

On 2nd May, Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) unanimously agreed on changes to the 2021 Census. Meaning transgender people will be able to complete a voluntary question about their gender identity and history.

The Bill will also, for the first time, have a voluntary question on sexual orientation.

The wording of the actual census questions will not be confirmed until after the bill has passed.
