With only 16 per cent of people wanting to return to the office full time, Judy Parfitt explains why employee wellbeing will be key to effective flexible working.

Over the past 12 months the topic of inclusion and diversity (I&D) has rapidly scaled UK employees’ agendas. This is a key finding from our Employee Expectations Report 2021, which analysed 30 million Peakon survey responses to identify what employees globally really want, need and expect from their workplaces today. 

Among UK employees specifically, the proportion of survey comments on the topic of I&D jumped by 31 per cent in 2020, year-on-year, with significant increases in the month of June. The growth in I&D-related comments aligns closely with the globalisation of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) and social justice movements, as well as the Covid crisis, which has disproportionately impacted minority communities.
