  • Employers do not have to report gender pay gaps this year

In light of the current situation regarding the Coronavirus outbreak, employers will not be required to report their data in respect of any gender pay gap for this reporting year (2019/2020).

The Government Equalities Office announced this temporary measure the 24th of March 2020. This decision has been taken to try to ease some of the “unprecedented uncertainty and pressure” that employers are faced with at this time.

The deadline for reporting was 30 March 2020 for public-sector organisations and 4 April 2020 for private companies and charities.

The figures were to be calculated using the "snapshot date" of 31 March 2019 and 5 April 2019 respectively.

It is not clear whether there will be new deadlines for submitting the data as, currently, it appears that the requirement has been suspended indefinitely.
