Speaker Organisation: Working with Cancer
Working with Cancer is a social enterprise that helps employees, employers, the self-employed, job seekers and carers to manage cancer and work. We coach, train and advise employers on how to successfully manage cancer in the workplace, and we coach and guide individuals affected by cancer on returning to work, remaining in work or finding employment at any stage during or after cancer treatment, including those living with advanced, secondary or terminal cancer.
Our presenter Maggie is an Associate for Working with Cancer and joined the team in 2016. She was successfully treated for breast cancer in 2014 and thyroid cancer in 2017. She finds it extremely rewarding to be able to support those affected by cancer at work through drawing on her own experiences.
Maggie started her management career at Crest Hotels before moving into communication focussed roles at Kraft Foods, Barclaycard and WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme). She has extensive experience in effective communications, getting the best out of people and developing resilience, particularly in times of significant change. When her breast cancer diagnosis coincided with redundancy, this provided her with the motivation and incentive needed to start her own coaching business.
