Around half of disabled people aged 16 to 64 years (52.1%) in the UK were in employment compared with around 8 in 10 (81.3%) for non-disabled people (July to September 2020); disabled people with autism were among those disabled people with the lowest employment rate (Office for National Statistics).
This session, which will be delivered by the Department of Work and Pensions’ Disability Services Advocacy Team, will provide participants with a comprehensive coverage of the Government’s Access to Work scheme, which covers extra support to help people with disabilities start or stay in work. The support that is offered will be based on needs, and could include a grant to help cover the costs of practical support in the workplace. It may be able to pay for additional support on top of any reasonable adjustments that are agreed by employers.
