Diversity and inclusion is at the heart of everything we do – and is valued as a key people priority. We are actively building an inclusive culture underpinned by our core inclusive values, and this role will help us reach the next step – to make it a reality where D&I is owned and progressed across all business areas.
This is an exciting opportunity to help us develop our inclusive culture further by building on and delivering inclusive practices and projects under the Senior HR Advisor – Diversity and Inclusion. This is a varied role which includes monitoring equality data and liaising with managers on issues arising, reviewing and developing diversity policies, as well as advising managers across the whole spectrum of human resource.
It’s essential that you have experience of progressing and influencing the diversity agenda by delivering activities or projects with a D&I focus. You will also bring good interpersonal, communication, influencing and negotiation skills. You will also have generalist HR experience (so you can deal with queries that come in to the HR department from a sound knowledge base). It’s also essential that you are working towards a professional qualification (CIPD or equivalent).
As one of the world’s great libraries, our duty is to preserve the nation’s intellectual memory for the future. At present we have well over 150 million items, in most known languages, with three million new items added every year. We have manuscripts, maps, newspapers, magazines, prints and drawings, music scores, and patents. We operate the world’s largest document delivery service providing millions of items a year to customers all over the world. What matters to us is that we preserve the national memory and enable knowledge to be created both now and in the future.
In return we offer a competitive salary and a number of excellent benefits. Our pension scheme is one of the most valuable benefits we offer, as our staff can become members of the Alpha Pension Scheme where the Library contributes 26.6% (this may be higher dependant on grade) Another significant benefit the Library provides is the provision of a flexible working hours scheme which could allow you to work your hours flexibly over the week and to take up to 5 days flexi leave in a 3 month period. This is on top of 25 days holiday from entry and public and privilege holidays.
We value diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from everyone. We are happy to talk flexible working.
